We have played a xmas gift swap game for years called "Yankee Swap" at work and home. To play : ¨ All participants must purchase a $10.00 gift. ¨ Bring the wrapped gift to the party and set it on the table. ¨ All participants receive a random number. The number a person receives indicates their position in the game. (Depending on number of people participating either use a deck of cards or make up numbers on the computer) ¨ Starting with the highest number, (ex. 30) the first player chooses a gift from the table, unwraps it, and shows it to everyone. ¨ The person with the next highest number (ex. 29) can EITHER TAKE A 'FRESH' GIFT FROM THE TABLE AND UNWRAP IT OR MAY TAKE THE FIRST PERSON'S GIFT, in which case, the first person would choose another gift from the table and unwrap it. Once you have turned in your number and picked a gift, you will always have a gift, it may change hands many times, but everyone ends up with a gift. ¨ The next person can either choose from the first two people's gifts or take a fresh gift. ¨ Remember, a gift may only move one time during a "turn" (a turn starts when a new person turns in their number and chooses a gift and ends when it is time for the next person to turn in their number). ¨ This goes on until there are no more wrapped gifts on the table and everyone has a gift. The fun is in the swapping! You can make the prize cost whatever you want.

THE DIRTY SANTA GAME IS ALWAYS FUN. HAVE EVERYONE BRING A WRAPPED GIFT. UNI GIFT IS USUALLY BEST, BUT DOESNT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE. HAVE A NUMBER FOR EVERYONE THAT IS PARTICIPATION AND PUT IT IN A BOWL. HAVE EVERYONE DRAW A NUMBER. START WITH NUMBER ONE AND LET THEM PICK A GIFT FROM THE PILE. NUMBER 2 THEN CAN EITHER TAKE NUMBER 1'S GIFT OR DRAW FROM THE PILE AND SO ON. THE GIFT CAN ONLY BE TAKEN 3 TIMES. THE 3RD PERSON GETS TO KEEP IT AND CAN NOT HAVE IT TAKEN AWAY. IF YOU HAVE A BIG GROUP IT CAN LAST AWHILE AND IS USUALLY VERY FUN TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE END UP WITH.

I always like the game where each guest has a sticker on their back with a famous person's name on it. They can only ask yes or no questions to the other guests to try to guess who they are. Everyone at the party knows "Who you are" except you! It is much more fun than it sounds!

Everyone brings a gift of no more than $5. The gifts are wrapped but have no name. They are all placed on a table or in some other designated place. Each person that brought a gift is given a number. Start with number 1. That person may select any gift they wish from the pile and must open it. Number 2 can either take number 1's gift or choose one from the pile. If they choose one from the pile, they must open it. Number 3 can take either number 1 or number 2's gift or they can choose one from the pile. If they choose one from the pile, they must open it. Keep doing this until it is the last person's turn. A person can get their gift taken away only twice. Variations would be to use Christmas ornaments, gag gifts, or white elephants. We look forward to playing this game every year-even the men love it-so include gifts they might enjoy.
