I am looking for a special event for a religious non-profit that would not be a gala or golf tournament, but would generate money

You can do a fashion show and silent auction. Can get local clothing stores to donate clothing. Have local businesses donate items for auction
Example: Cleaning sevice donates free cleaning-people bid to get it-money goes to your organization but winner calls service provider-all donations are tax deductible. It is a silent auction because people write down their bids during a certain designated time frame then when the time is up-highest bidder wins
