Mom's 50TH Birthday

We are throwing a surprise 50th birthday party for our Mother. We want to do something special or unique. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!!

When my mother turned 50 we held a dinner in her honor. The dinner was a buffet and invited were her friends, colleagues, family and church members. We even had long time friends come in from out of town. She knew nothing. Instead of using the traditional over the hill ( black and White) theme, the theme was "A Celebration of Life and Love" (Red and White)

My sister and I threw a very nice surprise dinner party for our mother when she turned 50. We only invited our family to keep it intimate (total of about 15 people). We rented 2 large round tables and chairs and ordered a large quantity of food from Olive Garden (mom's fav restaurant). We bought flowers to use as centerpieces and even got a few treats for the guests at their seats! We were on a budget, but pulled off a wonderful dinner surprise.
