I am responsible for a heart disease healthprovider caregiver award program this June. This is NOT a fundraiser. There are 10 winners. One of them died of heart disease last week.  This was not unexpected. His award will be presented to his wife. The other winners do not know him or one another.  None of them knows he has died.   The audience, outside of the planners, does not know one of the awardees has died

One of the key objectives is to have the audience of 200 leave the event feeling uplifted  by the stories of the extrordinary lenghts these awardees, including the deceased gentleman, have gone to on behalf of their heart disease patients and hopeful about the progress made in heart disease prevention and treatment.

My organization has not had anyone die during the planning stages of the awards program before and there is no protocol about it.

My Question: Do I present his award first or last?
